Panteg appoint Malson as joint manager following Taylor’s departure

Panteg have appointed Ricky Malson as their new manager, following the resignation of long serving manager Mark Taylor earlier this season.

Taylor left the club last month after becoming manager at the club in 2007, but the club have now moved to replace the outgoing manager with Malson. The former Risca United manager will be joint manager of the Welsh League Division Three outfit alongside Steve Rodgers.

However, the manager has big shoes to fill considering the job done by Taylor at the club.

Taylor took over the role when the club were in Gwent County League Division Two, and after a rebuild, he guided the club to two promotions into the Welsh League.

Since then, the club have managed to maintain their Welsh League status year upon year.

Malson however will be aided by joint-manager Steve Rodgers, who was in joint charge of the first team with Taylor last season, and will provide the possibility of a seamless transition between the former and current manager.

The Division Three outfit moved to appoint Malson after he left Risca United earlier this month, who are struggling at the bottom of Division Two this season, following three wins from 13 games.

However, he takes over Panteg in a comfortable position. The club are seventh in the league, with four wins from their opening nine games.

However, the manager will have to wait a while for his first game in charge, as they host Penydarren in the league on December 1st.
