FC Nomads sign Jamie Reed in coup loan deal

Welsh National League Premier Division side FC Nomads have secured the services of 2010/11 JD Welsh Premier League title winner Jamie Reed from Newtown AFC on loan.

Reed, who has a wealth of experience in both the professional and semi professional game, counts Wrexham, Glentoran, South Melbourne, and The New Saints amongst his former clubs.

After a brief spell at Llandudno he joined Newtown last season, scoring eight goals in  24 appearances for the Robins before being sidelined with injury.

He made a name for himself in the Welsh system at Rhyl and Bangor City, with the Citizens turning down a five-figure bid for him from York City in 2010.

But his move to the Minstermen eventually went through, with the forward going on to win the FA Trophy and promotion to League Two with York’s 2-1 win over Luton Town at Wembley.

Reed then moved to Cambridge United on loan, before signing for his hometown club Chester in 2013.

He joins FC Nomads, who sit ninth in the Premier Division after flirting with relegation last season.

The Deeside club won the league in 2015/16, but were denied promotion to the Huws Gray Alliance on a technicality.

But the club say that securing Reed on loan is a signing to help move the club forward.

FC Nomads are next in action on Saturday 1 December away at Rhos Aelwyd, where Reed will be in contention to make his debut.
