Silkmen end Wingmakers’ impressive 14-game winning run
Airbus UK’s impressive run of 14 consecutive wins in the Huws Gray Alliance came to an end yesterday, as they went down 1-0 to Flint Town United at Cae-y-Castell.
Mark Cadwallader’s first half goal proved to be the difference between the two sides.
The Wingmakers remain at the top of the table, 10 points clear of second-placed Porthmadog.
The defeat is Airbus’ first in the league since losing 3-0 to Caernarfon Town back in March.
Steve O’Shaughnessy‘s side’s storming start to the season has put them in pole position heading into the New Year, when the race for promotion to the Welsh Premier League will begin to heat up.
The win for Flint keeps them in touch at the top end of the table. The Silkmen are two points behind Porthmadog, however they have a game in hand.
The Broughton-based side finished third in last season’s Huw Gray Alliance, winning 17 of their 28 league games. They only need four more victories to better that record.
Elsewhere in the league, there were victories for Gresford Athletic, Porthmadog, Buckley Town and Prestatyn Town.
Next up for the Wingmakers is a home game against Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant next Saturday (December 15).
