Caerau Ely have announced the signings of Andrew Smith and Josh Spencer to their squad ahead of the busy Christmas period.
Ely have recently announced the signing of Danny Hooper from Pontypridd, and have now revealed that Andrew Smith has departed the club to join the Division Two side.
Smith is a familiar face at Cwrt-Yr-Ala having helped the club to Division One title back in 2014/15, the same year that the Young Guns were runners-up in the Welsh League Cup to Taffs Well.
Smith is a solid addition to Craig Sampson’s squad, and scored 29 goals in 2014/15 when he was awarded Player of the Season.
He joins the squad alongside Josh Spencer, who adds depth up front for the club, joining Sampsons’ men from Cove FC in Australia.
Spencer scored 28 goals in 14 appearances for the club in South Australia Division One last term, but has now joined up with the squad as they attempt to make a serious push for the Division Two titles.
The club are in 6th place after they suffered relegation from Division One last season, but are just eight points off top spot with four games in hand.
Sampson’s charges have lost just twice in 11 outings, and will be hoping the new additions will help the club to mount a push for the title, but will face stern opposition from league leaders Croesyceiliog.
