Bluebirds announce shock departure of Lee Trundle

Haverfordwest County have this evening confirmed that former Football League striker Lee Trundle has departed the club.

Trundle, 42, joined the west Wales club in the summer, following his departure from Llanelli Town.

A statement on Haverfordwest County’s Twitter account said: “Due to increasing work commitments Lee Trundle has decided to leave Haverfordwest County and his last game was played on Friday evening at Ton Pentre where he scored two goals, taking his tally for the Bluebirds to twelve in all competitions this season.”

The former Swansea City striker arrived at the Bridge Meadow after a successful spell with Llanelli Town, whom he helped guide to promotion from the Welsh Football League Division One.

The club statement continued: “Whilst his stay at the club was shorter than we would have hoped, we fully understand his decision and everyone at the football club would like to thank Lee for his time here and for the way he has conducted himself both on and off the field of play.”

Trundle leaves with the Bluebirds second in the Welsh Football League Division One, two points behind current leaders Penybont.

Liverpool-born Trundle, who is an ambassador for Sky Bet Championship side Swansea City, formed a potent strike partnership with youngster Danny Williams; with the pair netting 27 goals between them in all competitions.

The club concluded by saying: “Lee leaves with our sincere best wishes.”
