Citizens sign former Tangerines midfielder Menagh

Bangor City have this evening announced the signing of former Blackpool midfielder Jamie Menagh.

The 25-year-old will be available for the Citizens’ trip to basement side Holyhead Hotspur on Friday evening.

Liverpool-born Menagh began his career with the Tangerines in 2012, before leaving to join Northern Premier League Division One North side Prescot Cables a year later.

Menagh, who has played for Airbus UK in the 2016/17 JD Welsh Premier League season, plays on the right side of midfield; while also being capable of playing on the left.

Manager Gary Taylor-Fletcher said to Bangor City’s Twitter account: “I remember him as a young prospect at Blackpool. What stuck with me was his hunger to win in everything that he done.”

During his six-year career, Menagh has played for other teams including Chester, Marine and Altrincham.

The Englishman arrives with the Citizens currently sitting second in the Huws Gray Alliance, 12 points behind leaders Airbus UK.

Taylor-Fletcher explained the decision to add Menagh to the squad: “Along with the fact that he is a really talented player and will bring something different to the squad.”

He concluded: “I am really pleased we’ve got it done and cleared for Friday.”
