Denbigh announce Thomas return as Director of football
Gareth Thomas is set to return to Denbigh as director of football, following his sacking from Conwy Borough last month.
Thomas previously led Denbigh and will now return to the Central Park to work with all three senior sides at the club.
Thomas achieved a 3rd place finish at the club in 2015/16 and a runners up spot in the Word Cup, losing to The New Saints 2-0 in the final.
However, Thomas returned to management last season when he took over at Conwy Borough and in his first season he won the treble, as his side secured the league title, the Cookson Cup and the FAW trophy, as Borough were promoted at the first time of asking.
After a successful first season at the club, Thomas was set for a challenging second season as the Tangerines were looking for survival after their promotion. After a competitive start to life in the Huws Gray Alliance, Borough found themselves in 8th position at the start of December but Thomas was dismissed from his role earlier this season.
But his spell away from the game has been short lived as he has now returned to help his former club Denbigh in a new capacity.
After a short break he’s ready for the next chapter and he’s looking forward to the new role, at his former club.
“Delighted to be back involved at the club I know well. I’m looking forward to helping the current management team Matty & Dewi and pass on my experience to help them. It’s new to me but one I’m looking forward to working with all three teams and bringing my knowledge and experience so the club has a clear pathway for players as they progress from the youth football through to the senior.”
“But for now the main objective is to help the current 1st team management duo and squad to maintain there place in the Cymru Alliance then build on from that.”
