Llanelli Town sign Merthyr Town defender Joe Hunt

Llanelli Town have added Merthyr Town defender Joe Hunt to their squad ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.

Hunt is the Reds eighth addition in the January transfer window as they prepare for Phase Two of the Welsh Premier League, in their first season back in the Welsh top flight.

Emile Kpama Ngoy, Leon Britton, Lee Bevan, Luke Bevan, Joe Dyer and Scoutt Coughlan have all joined the Reds this season.

Llanelli Town manager Andy Hill said: “Joe is an exceptional talent. He’s proven his quality time and time again. He’ll be a tremendous asset for Phase Two.”

The youngster can play any position on the left-hand side.

He began his career with Swansea City, leaving the Swans at aged 14, before joining Newport after a spell in local football. Hunt was a scholar with Newport County last season, before moving on loan to the Southern league Division One side on loan.

Merthyr Town boss Gavin Williams said on Hunt’s departure: “It’s been a tough decision for Joe to leave, but with the lack of game time Joe wants to be playing regularly and the door will always be open for a return.”
