Former Connah’s Quay Nomads forward Rhys Healey has reportedly been named in Cardiff City’s 25-man squad.

A report from WalesOnline says that the 24-year-old looks set to replace French midfielder Loic Damour, adding to the Bluebirds frontline following the departure of Gary Madine.

His inclusion means he is eligible to play Cardiff’s remaining 14 fixtures in the Premier League, including their next fixture against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.  Healey was an unused substitute in Cardiff’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in midweek.

The Deeside academy product had spent the first six months of the season on loan with English League Two side MK Dons, where he scored nine goals in 22 appearances in all competitions.

Upon his return to Cardiff City, he had a 16-minute cameo against Huddersfield Town, five years after making his first English Premier League appearance against Chelsea.

Healey left the Connah’s Quay Nomads in 2013, after scoring 15 goals in 30 appearances for the Welsh Premier League club.

He had loan spells with Colchester United, Dundee, Newport County and Torquay United. The former Stoke City trialist has scored just one goal in his Cardiff City career.

Healey’s former side did make a Deadline Day move after signing former Coventry City and Preston North End midfielder Adam Barton.
