Llanelli Town dealt blow in battle for survival as marquee signing Britton breaks foot
Llanelli Town will be without marquee signing Leon Britton after the midfielder broke his foot in yesterday’s goalless draw with the Cefn Druids.
The 36-year-old sustained an injury following a tackle in the draw against relegation rivals Cefn Druids at The Rock.
It was just the second Welsh Premier League appearance that the Swans legend was making, having featured in the Reds crucial win over Llandudno last month.
The former Swans midfielder picked up his injury in the 89th minute and was replaced by Anthony Finselbach, as the Reds earnt a point in North Wales. Llanelli had a man advantage following Nathan Peate’s straight red card in the first half.
FootHealth facts say that bone healing takes up from six to 12 weeks in total to heal to a significant degree.
It is potentially a huge blow for the Reds, who could miss a majority of the Phase Two games, depending on the severity of the injury.
The former professional footballer who joined Llanelli Town just last month, tweeted an image of the result of his injury, with his foot now in a protective boot.

The Reds are currently six points adrift from Cefn Druids, after Carmarthen Town moved ten points clear of the Reds, following a victory against Cardiff Metropolitan yesterday.
Llanelli Town welcome Aberystwyth Town to Steboneath Park next week as they search for their first win in Phase Two, as they aim to preserve their status in the Welsh Premier League.
