Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey pens deal with Serie A giants Juventus
Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey has signed a pre-contract agreement with Italian giants Juventus on a four-year deal.
The 28-year-old will earn a reported £400,000 a week, making him the most highest-earning British player ever based on a basic salary according to the BBC.
He will leave English Premier League side Arsenal after eleven years at the Emirates Stadium, following a £4.8m move from Cardiff City in the summer of 2008.
Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Real Madrid were also interested according to the BBC. Madrid star Gareth Bale was eager to link up with his Wales teammate.
Ramsey’s current club Arenal did offer a new deal in September but it was later withdrawn.
In total, Ramsey has accumulated 259 appearances for the North London club, scoring 61 goals.
This season, Ramsey has played a total of 30 times for his club side. He’s scored three goals and assisted seven times. Thirteen of his appearances have come from off the bench, as well as being an unused substitute on two occasions.
Ramsey was absent in Arsenal’s latest win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The Caerphilly-born star won three FA Cups with the Gunners, scoring the deciding goal in two finals. He was also named Arsenal’s Player of the Season last year.
