Cardiff Metropolitan 3-0 Llandudno: Roscrow brace creates five-point gap in race for seventh

Cardiff Met made it five home wins in a row after overcoming bottom side Llandudno at Cyncoed Campus to move five points ahead of Aberystwyth Town in the race for seventh.

The Archers made the most of eighth-placed Aberystwyth Town, who lost to the Cefn Druids at The Rock last night, to create a gap with seven games to go in Phase Two.

Adam Roscrow scored a brace, with both goals coming in either half, whilst Harry Owen came off the bench to also register his name on the scoresheet.

It was Iwan Williams’s men who started the game brightly and could have scored in the third minute but could only see their shot go over the bar before Toby Jones, scorer of Llandudno’s goal in their victory over the Met the last time the two played at Cyncoed Campus, played in a delightful ball which just evaded George Harry.

Cardiff Met looked for a penalty when Will Evans went down in the box but nothing was given before Harry Owen had the games first shot on target in the 14th minute. A great pass from Eliot Evans set Dylan Rees away down the right before his cross found Will Evans who played in Owen but he could only shoot straight into the gloves of Shaun Pearson.

After constant pressure from the Met after a spell of dominance, Adam Roscrow who scored his 100th goal in last week’s win over Cefn Druids bagged home when he got onto the end of a great ball from Will Evans. Despite the best attempts of Pearson the striker had enough on the ball as it trickled into the bottom right-hand corner as the Met went into the break a goal to the good.

Harry Owen doubled Met’s advantage just after the restart when he powered the ball home after unselfish play by Will Evans. Owen who picked the ball up just outside the six-yard box on the left-hand side unleashed an unstoppable shot to make it two in a week after also netting in last week’s victory.

Llandudno looked to get themselves back in the game as Danny Hughes unleashed a shot that went over Alex Lang’s goal in the visitors their first real chance of the second half before Roscrow had two chances to treble his sides lead with both of them going wide of the far post.

Roscrow made sure of the victory with his 14th goal of the season five minutes from time. He picked up an Eliot Evans pass before hitting a low slot past Pearson, into the bottom left-hand corner via the post to maintain their unbeaten record at home since November.

For Llandudno, who came into the game on the back of a three-game unbeaten run including their first win in phase two against Carmarthen Town last Saturday, remain bottom of the table, one point behind Llanelli Town.
