Nomads announce signing of Caribbean international Raheem Hanley
Connah’s Quay Nomads have unveiled 25 year old left-back Raheem Hanley as their latest signing.
An international for the Caribbean country of Saints Kitts and Nevis, he joins the JD Welsh Premier League club after a spell in the English National League with Halifax Town.
He has earned three caps for England at U19 level, and has so far made one appearance for St Kitts and Nevis against Canada in November 2018.
His career started at Manchester United before he moved onto play for Blackburn Rovers, Swansea City, and Northampton Town.
Signing a contract running to January 2020, Hanley joins Nomads on the last stretch of their three-front fight for the league title, JD Welsh Cup, and Irn Bru Cup.
But he won’t be available for next week’s final against Ross County in Inverness, as Saint Kitts and Nevis, known as the ‘Sugar Boyz’ due to the island’s affiliation with sugar, are in action against South American nation Suriname.
He will wear the number three shirt for the club, which was vacated by Nomads’ summer signing Lawrence Wilson, who retired from football in January.
The announcement was made after Nomads returned to the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Newtown AFC courtesy of goals from George Horan and Michael Bakare in the 11th and 85th minute respectively.
