Abertillery Bluebirds have this evening been promoted to the Welsh Football League.
The Monmouthshire side return to the Welsh League after a five-year absence after being relegated in the 2013/2014 season.
Owen Goodenough scored the only goal of the evening as the Bluebirds beat second-placed Cwmbran Town to cement their place in a higher division next season.
Messages of congratulations flooded in on social media as Allan Stokes guided the club to promotion.
Congratulations @AberBluebirdsFC

They’ve repeated their heroics from when they promotion in 2008/2009. With two games remaining they are closing in on the Gwent County League Division One title.
Third-placed Ynysddu Welfare are the only team capable of catching Abertillery with five games in hand but will be unable to accept promotion due to not passing the criteria.
Last season they missed out on promotion on the final day of the season as Albion Rovers beat Malpas Civil Service to take the title by a single point.
