Goytre and Taffs Well relegated from Welsh League Division One

Goytre and Taffs Well were today relegated from Welsh League Division One.

Pontypridd’s victory over Undy Athletic, coupled with Goytre’s defeat to Cwmamman and Taffs Well’s draw to Ammanford meant that the two were relegated from Division One.

Both sides had hovered above the relegation zone for a majority of the season and have now had their fate sealed. The pair will join Ton Pentre who were relegated over a fortnight ago.

The relegation is dependent on Tier Two licensing. Both clubs have applied for the Tier Two Licence.

Taffs Well had been in Division One for a total of 15 years but time has not been called on their stay in the second tier has come to an end.

The Wellmen avoided defeat but were unable to claim victory over Ammanford at the Recreation Ground.

Goytre will take on their relegation rivals Pontypridd Town at Aberaman Park next Saturday as they complete their season. Taffs Well still have to play second-placed Cambrian & Clydach Vale next Friday, before concluding their season away at Undy Athletic.
