Cardiff Met’s Parker looks to momentum ahead of play off clash with Cofis
Tim Parker says that Cardiff Met’s final day of the season win over Llanelli Town will give his side momentum ahead of their Europa League Play Off Semi Final with Caernarfon Town on Saturday 11th May.
After securing their third consecutive play off campaign with a narrow victory over Aberystwyth Town last Saturday, Christian Edwards’ Met played out an action packed 3-2 win over Llanelli to conclude the regular season.
And although there was little riding on the result of the game, Parker says it will allow him and his teammates to go to The Oval with confidence.
“Yeah it gives momentum.” He said. “That’s what Christian was saying at the start of the game, we need momentum going into the Play Offs and that’s what we got and we got the win and we are happy.”
“It’s really good, obviously we are going to be away in the Play Offs but it doesn’t faze us, (we are) looking forward to it.”
The game saw Parker opened his Welsh Premier League account with a brace, equalising in both halfs to keep Met in the encounter.
Parker reacted to his first goals for Cardiff, saying: “The first one was a bit of a bumble but second one took it well. It was a good ball in from Dion and yeah it was a good finish.”
With attentions turning to the play of semi at Caernarfon, manager Christian Edwards made a number of changes and the 23-year old felt that the rotation will benefit the squad.
“It was 11 changes at the end of the day, which gives Swanny a bit of a headache, and there’s always competition for a place in the team. That’s why we do so well.”
“To be able to change a side like that and still play like we did and put in a performance like that just shows much quality we have in the club.“
“It was a quite changed team but I thought boys were more than capable of getting the job done and we did. I’m looking forward to next week and the play offs.”
The Archers have a history in the play offs despite their relatively short top flight career, making the final in both the 16/17 and 17/18 campaigns only to come up short against Bangor City and Cefn Druids.
Ahead of a tough test away at what is likely to be a vocal Oval ground, Parker is relishing the challenge.
“Yeah we will just wait and see, looking forward to it, again we are going to train hard and see what happens.”
“We’ve just got to take it one game at a time, hopefully get to the final again, and then go one step further to make it a nice summer away (in Europe).”
