Draper in new two year deal with The New Saints
Prolific goalscorer Greg Draper is to stay at JD Welsh Premier League and JD Welsh Cup champions The New Saints for another two years.
The Saints’ talisman and current golden boot holder has signed a new two year deal with the club, it has been announced today.
Widely recognised as the leading striker in Welsh football, Draper scored 27 in 32 appearances in 2018/19, despite starting many games as a substitute.
Speaking to BBC Shropshire Sport, Scott Ruscoe described Draper as ‘absolutely fantastic for the club’.
This year, the BBC calculated that Draper has a goal per minute ratio of one every 39 minutes, placing him ahead of even the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sergio Aguero.
The deal will take Draper to the summer of 2021, meaning the Somerset born forward will have spent a decade at Park Hall. He joined from basingstoke Town after spending the early stages of his career in New Zealand.
He has one senior cap for New Zealand.
During his time at the club, he has won eight league titles, five Welsh Cups and four League Cups.
The renewed deal for the New Zealand born striker will come as welcome news to manager Scott Ruscoe, who has moved to secure his services immediately after the end of the season.
