Welsh Premier League awards: All the winners in the 2018/2019 awards
Michael Bakare, Momodou Touray and Scott Ruscoe claimed the big three in this evening’s Welsh Premier League awards.
Each of the top three sides in the Welsh top flight were able to boast an individual award for the season.
Bakare was named Player of the Year in the last award of evening whilst Momodou Touray was named as Young Player in the first award announced of the night at the St David’s Hotel in Buckley. New Saints manager Scott Ruscoe won the Manager of the Year at the second time of asking having missed out to Huw Griffiths last year.
Those involved with the Wales C squad in March were awarded their Caps.
Greg Drape was awarded the Golden Boot for a second consecutive season, having hit the net a total of 27 times this year.
Player of the Season
Bakare scored 14 goals and earned 9 assists this season.
Speaking to Connah’s Quay after his award, Bakare said: “Thank you for voting for me for Welsh Premier League Player of the season.
“I’m honoured to get this award. There were loads of candidates in my opinion that had a great season that you could have given the award to. You’ve chosen me. I’m grateful.”
Manager of the Season
Scott Ruscoe beat Andy Morrison, Christian Edwards and Gavin Chesterfield
to earn Manager of the Year in just his second year in senior management.
The former midfielder who played a total of 326 times for the Oswestry club, managed TNS to an eighth straight league title, despite being third in November.
The New Saints also won the JD Welsh Cup in May.
Young Player of the Season
Newport County loanee Momodou Touray beat teammate Robbie Patten and New Saints midfielder Tom Holland to claim the Award.
Touray who has been named in the Wales Under-21s squad on the past few occasions has scored 13 goals for the Dragons this season.
Team of the Season:
Despite moving to Fleetwood Town in January, Macauley Southam-Hales was named in the Team of the Season. His former teammate Chris Hugh was the other Barry representative.
Other than goalkeeper Alex Ramsay, the rest of the teams as made up of Connah’s Quay Nomads and New Saints players.
Blaine Hudson, Jon Routledge, Aeon Edwards, Jamie Mullan, Ryan Brobbel and Greg Draper represented the New Saints whilst Player of the Year Michael Bakare was included alongside defender George Horan.

Goal of the Season
Wales C captain Aeron Edwards was a thorn in the side of Connah’s Quay this season and his goal against the Nomads back in Phase One at Park Hall was named Goal of the Season.
Clubman of the Year
With 20 clean sheets this season and just 15 goals conceded, Paul Harrison was named Clubman of the Year.
The TNS captain has been at Park Hall for 12-years and was presented his award by teammate Aeron Edwards.
