Pontypridd Town appoint Jonathan Jones as new first-team manager

Pontypridd Town have promoted coach Jonathan Jones to the role of first team manager.

Jones, who was previously First Team Coach under Lee Kendall, has succeeded the former Barry goalkeeping coach, who stepped down from the role recently.

He previously held roles with Bristol City, Cardiff City and Neath. Jones is the current Head Coach of the Welsh Universities side, having previously been their Performance Analyst.

It is his second spell at Pontypridd Town, having spent time as a player at the club back in 2011.

Speaking on his appointment to Pontypridd’s official website, Jones said: “I’m delighted to be named manager of Pontypridd Town FC and I’m very much excited by the opportunities that lie ahead.

“I’d like to place on record my thanks to Kends for bringing me to the club, without which this opportunity would not be possible and also for his assistance in the handover process.

“I would like to wish him all the best in his future projects.”

Commenting on his appointment was club representative Max James said:

“The club felt that continuity was so important for the club and its players and we are eagerly looking forward to the new season.”

Pontypridd Town will be Jonathan Jones’ first senior management role in the Welsh pyramid system, having come mostly from an educational background.
