Nia Davies appointed Head of Coaching of Penybont

Penybont have appointed Nia Davies as the clubs new Head of Coaching.

Davies who graduated from the University of South Wales with a The BSc Sport and Exercise Science degree was the first full-time female football coach at an English Premier League academy.

She currently holds the UEFA B Licence qualification and is working towards her A Licence qualification with the FAW Trust.

Penybont released on their website that Davies had been appointed in the role after the closing date of the 31st May. 

“This is a great acquisition for the Club as Nia is highly qualified and comes to us from Swansea City where she has been for a number of years developing her coaching skills.

“Nia will develop all aspects of coaching at the Club, predominately within the Academy sector but Penybont FC are all about inclusion, so working with the community and local schools will also be a fundamental part of the job.

“All at Penybont welcome Nia to the Club and look forward to working with her in our new and exciting season in the Welsh Premier League.”

Nia worked as a Foundation Phase Coach at Swansea City’s academy for a total of five years. 

She also held a role with the Women’s national team as a Sports Scientist. 

Each Welsh Premier League club requires a Head of Coaching. 

Clubs seek funding from the UEFA Solidarity Fund for Youth Development which allows for the creation of the Head of Coaching role.
