Barry Town United Ladies have pulled off the marquee signing of Shannon Evans.
Evans returns to football having had a one-year break after playing for Cardiff City.
In her last full-season of football, she won the Player of the Season in the Welsh Premier Women’s League after finishing as Cardiff’s top scorer for three consecutive seasons.
Speaking to the official club website, Evans said: “I am really happy to have signed for Barry Town Utd. I think they are going to be the perfect club for me to find the love for the game again.
“I am super excited to get started and be part of a well-structured club and I am looking forward to pre-season and the challenges ahead.”
Manager Luke Williams praised Barry’s most recent acquisition.
“Shannon is an excellent signing for this football club and I am delighted to welcome her to Jenner Park.
“Her record speaks for itself and for us to attract a player of her quality just shows how far we have come in a short space of time.
“She will add real quality in an area we needed to improve the squad and we are looking forward to working with her.”
Barry Town United finished second to Aberystwyth Town Ladies, who were promoted to the WPWL after finishing eight points clear of Barry.
The Glamorgan club begin their pre-season with five friendlies, starting off with a home friendly against Villa Dino Christchurch on the 28th July. They complete their preparations for the new season with another home friendly against Willows.
