Bangor City appeal hearing adjourned until 24th June

Bangor City’s 42-point deduction appeal has been adjourned by the FAW until next week.

Their hearing which took place yesterday (18th June) saw the case adjourned until the 24th June.

It was announced on May 20 that the Citizens were to be deducted the points after being charged with 12 different Disciplinary Offences.

The club subsequently issued a statement to confirm that they would be appealing the decision of the Disciplinary Panel.

The North Walian club today announced that a full rehearing is set to take place.

The statement read: “Today, an independent appeals panel heard the case relating to the 42-point deduction awarded against Bangor City Football Club.

The panel has now confirmed a full rehearing will commence and that the original decision, made after the first hearing on Tuesday, April 23, is nullified.

However, a counter-statement from the Football Association of Wales, says the appeal required further consideration.

“At the hearing, fresh information was submitted by Bangor City FC, which the Appeals Panel felt required further consideration.

“As a result, the Panel took the decision to adjourn the hearing until 24 June 2019, at which point the Panel will be reconvened to consider the appeal submitted by Bangor City FC.”

The Citizens recorded a fourth-placed finished in last season’s Cymru Alliance, picking up 51 points from their 30 league games.

A deduction of 42 points would result in them dropping to the foot of the table, and therefore being relegated to the Welsh Alliance League.

Should such a situation arise, it is possible that Holywell Town – who finished 14th – would be reprieved from relegation, and would see Bangor join Denbigh Town and Holyhead Hotspur in dropping down a tier.

On June 12, the Bangor City FC Supporters’ Trust announced that the new fan-owned phoenix club, based in Bangor, would be called Clwb Pêl-Droed Bangor 1876 Football Club.

The newly-formed club will tomorrow discover which tier they will be placed in ahead of the 2019/20 season.
