New Saints learn Champions League qualifying fate

The New Saints have been drawn against the winners of the UEFA Champions League preliminary round.

The winner of what is a one-legged semi-final and then a final, will earn the right to play The New Saints in Round One of qualifying.

FC Santa Coloma (Andorra), Feronikeli (Kosovo), Lincoln Red Imps (Gibraltar) and Tre Penne (San Marino) are all possible opponents.

Kosovan champions KF Feronikeli will take on Lincoln Red Imps, whilst FC Santa Coloma of Andorra will take on San Marino champions opponents Tre Penne. They ties will take place on the 25th and 28th June.

Scott Ruscoe’s side are scheduled to play at home first. The first leg will be played on either the 9th/10th of July. They will then travel to either Andorra, Gibraltar, Kosovo or San Marino.

Last season, The New Saints played the Lincoln Red Imps in the UEFA Europa League, knocking them out over two legs, having beaten them at Park Hall and drawn at The Rock.

The New Saints have already played The Penne before, beating them 5-1 on aggregate in the 2016/2017 Champions League.

Liverpool were the winners of the UEFA Champions League last season. This season the final will take place at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, it is the national stadium of the Turkish team.
