Barry Town United sign Cardiff City goalkeeper George Ratcliffe
Barry Town United have signed Cardiff City goalkeeper George Ratcliffe on loan.
Ratcliffe is Barry’s third signing of the summer after the additions of Jack Compton and Luke Cummings. The Wales Under-21s goalkeeper was a substitute in their Europa League warm-up friendly with Ballymena United.
The 18-year-old is a youth academy product of Cardiff City. He has been with the club from a young age.
Ratcliffe once recovered from a broken leg, returning to action in use six months.
He was the goalkeeper for Cardiff City’s U18’s side last season, making 26 competitive appearances. Ratcliffe has played for the Bluebirds at U16, U18 and U23 level.
The young Bluebirds finished top of the U18 Professional Development League last season but lost to Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 in the final. His performances last season earned him the award of the best player in Cardiff City’s academy.
