Dale Griffiths appointed manager of West End

ONE OF West End’s most treasured sons has returned to his roots to try to spark the resurgence of his boyhood club.

Dale Griffiths has been appointed as the new manager of the Swansea club following their relegation to Welsh League Division Three.

Griffiths began his long and illustrious career at Pryderi Park, scoring thirty goals in his debut season.

Following his explosive start, his eye for goal caught the eye of many a suitor as his career followed an upward trajectory taking in spells at Merthyr, Carmarthen and Llanelli where he experienced European football under the stewardship of Peter Nicholas.

Griffiths rejoins the Townhill-based outfit at a crucial time as they start the season in the fourth tier of the Welsh pyramid. Despite a strong start to the 2018/19 campaign, including a famous victory against local rivals Swansea University, they were unable to find consistent form and eventually finished in 15th, one position above bottom-placed Aberdare Town.

A spokesman for the club announced: “We would like to welcome our new manager Dale Griffiths, coaches to be announced in due course.

“The club would also like to thank Chris Butt and Rob Shannon for all their hard and tireless work last season.”
