Newtown AFC sign George Harry as Carmarthen Town make some additions of their own

Carmarthen Town and Newtown have both made additions to their squads this evening.

Newtown AFC have signed striker George Harry who joins the club from Llandudno.

Harry will join up with the squad in time for pre-season training and the club confirmed he will feature in some of Newtown’s warm up fixtures.

The Englishman has spent time at Bangor City, Wrexham and Llandudno so he is no stranger to Welsh football.

He scored six goals in 32 appearances for Llandudno last season and having lost two strikers in Rio Ahmadi and Luke Boundford, Newtown will be pleased to welcome him aboard.

Harry began his career with Wrexham in 2016, coming through their academy before breaking into the first team the following year.

Newtown will be hoping the 20 year old can help them to improve on their fifth placed finish in the WPL last season.

Elsewhere Carmarthen Town have signed Alaric Jones from Haverfordwest County AFC.

Jones is a powerful left back who has shown great potential in the last few seasons.

He has previously captained Wales U18 schoolboys in the Centenary Shield and also played against Gibraltar for Wales U18 Academy side.

The 6 feet 1 defender started his career at Swansea City but joined Haverfordwest when he was just 15.

Carmarthen have also announced the appointment of Chris Llewellyn as their new Head of Coaching.

Llewellyn has been Colchester United’s Under 18 Head Coach most recently and also has experience in the same role at Swansea City.

The former Norwich City player said he is “excited” about his new role which he will begin on July 29.
