2019/20 FAW Championship South fixtures revealed

The 2019/20 fixtures for the FAW Championship South have been confirmed.

Formerly known as the Welsh Football League Division One, the Football Association of Wales have taken control of the second tiers. Only one team will be eligible for promotion to the Welsh Premier League.

Today, the 16 clubs were told of their league fixtures for the season. It will start on the 16th of August and end on the 4th of April. 

The action kicks off with some Friday night delight. Goytre United host Briton Ferry Llansawel at Glenhafod Park. Recently relegated Llanelli Town host Pontypridd Town at Steboneath Park and new boys Swansea University travel to Celtic Park to take on Cwmbran Celtic.

Caerau Ely, back in the second tier after their relegation in 2018, take on Haverfordwest County. Afan Lido host Undy Athletic, Darren Robinson’s first game in charge of Llantwit Major will be a trip to Cambrian. Division Two champions STM Sports host Cwmamman United and Taffs Well host Lee Trundle’s Ammanford to complete the opening day fixtures.

Festive fixtures will be played from the 27th to the 4th January, these fixtures will include local derbies such as the Amman Valley Derby between Ammanford and Cwmamman United, the Cardiff Derby between Caerau Ely and STM Sports, the Rhondda Derby consisting of Cambrian & Clydach and Pontypridd Town and the Port Talbot Derby which is Afan Lido versus Goytre United.
