Penybont announce signings of Dan Jefferies and Mikey George

Penybont have signed two new players in the form of Dan Jefferies and Mikey George.

They become the fifth and sixth signings of the summer after Dan Summerfield, Lewis Baldwin, Matthews Harris, and Nathan Wood all joined in May.

Jefferies can be seen as a direct replacement for Sam Rodon, who announced this week that he would be leaving the club.

The 20-year-old central defender who hails from Bridgend and will be joining his hometown. Formerly on the books of Swansea City, Jefferies has represented Wales at U15, U16 and U17 level.

After a move to Scotland last year after a trial from Colchester United, Jefferies made competitive appearances for parent club Dundee, before moving on loan to Scottish Championship side Partick Thistle.

He has played alongside the likes of Wales internationals Ben Woodburn, Ethan Ampadu, Matty Smith and Tyler Roberts in the Victory Shield in 2014.

Wales youth international Mikey George joins from Welsh Premier League side Barry Town United.

George spent a majority of last season on loan at Llanelli Town. The midfielder is a youth academy product of Cambrian & Clydach Vale.

As well as new additions, a whole host of last seasons players have committed to the club as they prepare for their maiden season in the Welsh Premier League.

Ben Symons, Cullen Kinsella, Curtis Hutson, James Saddler, Kieran Howard, Kostya Georgievsky, Liam Walsh, Mackensie Kay, and Oli Dalton have all signed on for the upcoming campaign.

Penybont’s first league match of the season is scheduled to take place in front of the Sgorio cameras against Barry Town United.
