Caernarfon Town sign midfielder Leo Smith on permanent deal

Leo Smith has joined Welsh Premier League club Caernarfon Town on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with the Canaries and has left the National League side for a second consecutive season in the Welsh top flight.

Speaking to CaernarfonTownFC.co.uk, Smith said: “I’m really happy that we managed to get this over the line.

“I’m disappointed with how it ended at Wrexham but this is an opportunity for me to show everyone what I am about and I’m really looking forward now to the season ahead of us.”

Smith, an academy product of Wrexham, made his senior debut for the club in 2016. In total, he made 12 appearances for the Dragons.

In 2016, he was named the Young Player of the Season at Wrexham.

Having previously worked with Smith, manager Allan Bickerstaff said:

“I’ve been working with Leo for a number of years now and so I know his qualities.

Watching him at the end of last season, he proved to me that he’s the type of player we wanted so we’ve gone all out to get Leo on board and I’m so glad that we’ve got him.”

Last season, he spent the first half of the season with Llandudno, before making 15 appearances for Caernarfon.
