CPD 1876 Bangor continue to assemble squad for their maiden season
CPD Bangor 1876 have continued to add to their squad for the maiden season.
The Citizens have been able to attract higher league players in Benn Lundstram and Leon Jones. Former Llandudno boss Iwan Williams has also joined the playing squad for the upcoming season.
Leon Jones, who hails from Bangor is a 19-year-old goalkeeper and was with Llandudno Albion last season, playing in the fifth tier.
Benn Lundstram, a 17-year-old forward, signs from Penmaenmawr Phoenix. Benn played alongside his father Mike at the club. Lundstram is highlight rated and has been involved in senior football from the age of 16.
He was involved in Bangor City’s academy and was in their Under-19’s setup last season. His most glittering achievement was winning Player of the Round in the JD Welsh Cup.
The three youngsters add to the experienced signings made last week. Iwan Wiliams and Jamie Petrie committed to the Phoenix club for the upcoming season
Williams makes a return to the playing side of things, having gone into management with Caernarfon Town and Llandudno. He guided the Canaries to the Huw’s Gray Alliance League title in 2016.
The 34-year-old was previously the captain of Llandudno and made a cameo of appearances whilst as manager of the club.
David Petrie returns to the City of Bangor, after previously featuring for Bangor City.
He spent a number of years in the English pyramid system with Congleton Town, Middlewich Town and Knutsford.
Petrie joined the Connah’s Quay Nomads, before joining Bangor City in 2013.
After recovering from injury, he featured for Flint Town United.
Tomorrow, the Gwynedd League club will have an Open Day at their Treborth home.
Their first ever fixture will take place next Saturday when they take on FC United of Manchester.
Chester, who are also supporter-owned, will host them in their second friendly five days later.
