Madison Schupbach claims double at Welsh Premier Women’s League awards

Madison Schupbach claimed two gongs in the Welsh Premier Women’s League awards.

Schupbach was voted the Player of the Year, seeing off Kate Jeremiah (Abergavenny Town), Jordanna Greenough (Llandudno) and Stacey-John Davies of Swansea City. The American also claimed the Golden Boot award, scoring 18 goals.

The Awards were presented by ITV Sports reporter Beth Fisher who was a former Hockey international for Wales.

Swansea City’s Shaunna Jenkins claimed the Young Player of the Year award, beating Courtney Young of Briton Ferry Llansawel and Deanna Lewis of Cyncoed Ladies.

Following Port Talbot Town’s progression as a club this season, earning a fourth-place finish, manager Hayley Williams received the Woman of the Year honour.

The WPWL said: Hayley was an overwhelming favourite for the award from fellow clubs, players, and FAW staff, recognising both her personal commitment to growing and developing as a coach, the work she has done for her players, alongside the fantastic season Port Talbot have enjoyed.”

It was a treble-winning season for Cardiff Met, with the Archers winning the League, the League Cup and the FAW Women’s Cup.

The Welsh Premier Women’s League will now go into its tenth season, welcoming Aberystwyth Town Ladies back into the Division.
