Former Barry loanee Touray joins Torquay

Former Barry Town United loanee Momodou Touray has joined Torquay United on loan.

The young forward joins them on a one-month loan deal.

Touray had been featuring for the first team of Newport County this pre-season but has been shipped out on loan for a third season.

Torquay manager Gary Johnson said on their official website: “He played in one of our pre-season friendlies not so long ago and he was recommended to me by a player that used to play for me as a centre-forward.

“He said he might become available, he might not, so we had a chance to have a look at him a couple of times and he looks to have a lot of potential.

“He’s only just 20,  he was 20 two days ago, he comes from Gambia, the same as Saiks [former loan forward Saikou Janneh], he knows Saiks quite well and he reminds me of Saiks, he’s got that quality of keeping hold of the ball, he works hard and if at the end of the month, he’s enjoyed and we’ve enjoyed it then that’s another great addition to our squad as a striker.”

The Gulls begin their season at home today against Boreham Wood.

Last season he scored 13 goals in 31 appearances for Barry, helping them to Europa League qualification.

The County youngster won the Cymru Premier’s Young Player of the Year award last season.

During his loan spell at Barry he earned three Wales Under-21 caps.
