Bangor City, Holywell Town and Llandyrnog ‘s fixtures suspended
Bangor City’s fixures have been suspended until their arbitration hearing.
The Citizens, alongside two other clubs have been suspended, until the arbitration hearing of Bangor City versus the FAW has been heard, which will be taking place on the 16th August.
A FAW Committee meeting saw them implement FAW Rule 35 against Bangor City, Holywell Town Llandyrnog with immediate effect.
It means for the three clubs their seasons won’t kick off until at least matchday two of the Cymru North.
A statement published on the FAW website read: “The Directors shall have power to suspend the playing of Association Football at all or any club or ground within its jurisdiction at such times and for such duration as the Directors shall see fit.
“Notwithstanding any provision contained in Rule 138.1, the Directors shall have power to extend or diminish the period of the Playing Season in any year or at any time, when such a course shall seem to it to be necessary or desirable.
“All contracts or agreements between clubs, Players or any other party or between any or all of them shall be modified (if necessary) to take account of the effect of any decision of the Directors which may be made from time to time under the provisions of this Rule.”
The FAW say they have implemented it ‘to protect the sporting integrity of the competitions that these three clubs are scheduled to participate in.’
Initially, Bangor were dealt with a 42-point deduction, but it was halved on appeal, sparing relegation on goal difference.
The Gwynedd club launched a second appeal against the 21-point deduction.
Holywell Town finished second from bottom last season and were due to start the season in the Welsh National League Premier Division against Mould Alexandra.
Llandyrnog finished third from bottom in the Welsh Alliance League last season. They were placed in Division One this season and were meant to open the season against Blaenau Amateurs.
Bangor’s game against Conwy Borough was postponed last week. The winner was meant to play The New Saints in Round Two of the Nathaniel MG Cup. Bangor City will now play a Tranmere Rovers XI, made up of mostly U23/U21 players.
Bangor’s opening league fixture with Colwyn Bay, set for Saturday 17th August, has also been postponed.
