Simon Jones: Manager parts company with Aberdare Town after winless start

Aberdare Town have parted company with manager Simon Jones.

The club are second bottom in the Welsh League Division Two, having conceded 16 goals in just two games.

Aberdare have also been knocked out of the JD Welsh Cup and the Welsh Football League Cup.

Aberdare Town released a statement, reading: “Aberdare Town have parted company with manager Simon Jones with immediate effect.

“The Club will now look to appoint a new manager in the near future.”

Manager Simon Jones released a statement saying: “I would like to thank Aberdare Town for giving me the opportunity to manage at Welsh League level.

“Sadly my vision for the club didn’t happen, as we all know football is a results game.”

Jones took over from Wayne Powell in May 2018 but was unable to keep Aberdare in the third tier of Welsh football.

Aberdare take on Mid Wales League side Llandrindod Wells in the FAW Trophy this weekend.
