Barry Town United captain Jordan Cotterill faces a sixth-month ban.
He has been suspended following an incident on Barry’s opening game of the season with Penybont, relating to alleged aggressive conduct towards a match referee.
The 30-year-old will miss the remainder of Phase One in the Cymru Premier and a number of weeks of Phase Two.
Cotterill has until the September 25 to appeal against the decision.
A statement from the FAW read: “After carefully considering the written and verbal evidence submitted, the Panel decided that the charge against Jordan Cotterill be found proven of Assault in accordance with 2.4.4 and 3B of the Regulations.
“The Panel further decided that Mr Cotterill should be subject to a Match Suspension – as defined in the FAW’s categories of suspension – for 182 days.
The Panel noted that Mr Cotterill was under an interim suspension as and from 23 August 2019. The Panel also noted that Mr Cotterill was serving a one Match Suspension for a sending-off offence, which commenced on 17 August 2019 and was completed on 23 August 2019. Therefore, the Panel decided that the 182-day suspension should commence as and from 24 August 2019 up to and including 21 February 2020.
A brief counter-statement was published by Barry, confirming they’d be appealing the decision.
