AFC Porth: Kevin Richards appointed new manager of Black Dragons

AFC Porth have appointed Kevin Richards as their new first-team manager.

Richards returns to a senior position in the dugout after standing down from Ton Pentre in February. He had a brief coaching spell with Penrhiwfer this season.

The five-time Welsh League Division One winner replaces Ryan Betteney, who stood down from his role last month.

Andrew Thomas and John Emmanuel take up the roles in Richards’ backroom staff.

“Kevin has proved both as a player and manager, that he has that winning mentality and we are delighted he has agreed to join the club,” said a clubs spokesperson.

“Kevin brings a wealth of Welsh league experience, something we desperately need, his extensive contacts throughout the game.

“We would like to place on record our thanks to Ryan Betteney, Liam Hutchinson, and Jamie Hallett for their efforts over the last 18 months.”

All three will be in the dugout for Saturday’s Welsh League Division Two club’s fixture at Treowen Stars.

The Black Dragons currently sit bottom of the league, having lost all five of their fixtures.
