Wales C will face England C at Caernarfon Town in March 2020 in the third consecutive meeting between the two.
Mark Jones will take to the dugout for the third time, as the Cymru Premier continues to showcase its best talent.
In its inaugural year, Jonah named an 18-man squad, before expanding it to 21.
Y Clwb Pêl-Droed’s Jordan Jones has chosen his team based on the current form and performances of Welsh players in the Cymru Premier this season.
Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
Alex Ramsay
Deserves the nod again, composing figure for Wales due to his height.
Will be contesting the number one spot with Alex Lang.
Dylan Rees
Rees was a late call-up to Jonah’s squad in the last camp, but his performance in the draw should ensure his involvement in the squad.
The former Cardiff City pro has developed into a tidy player since enrolling at Cardiff Met. He has spoken previously about his desire to return to the professional game following the completion of his duties and this could be the game that kickstarts his dream.
Luke Cooper
Barry vice-captain Luke Cooper has been overlooked in recent years, that despite Barry’s solid defensive record at the back.
This time though Cooper would do well to miss out. It seems the Barry captain has developed his game and become a calm head in the defence. It’s that maturity over the last few months which should see Cooper earn a Wales cap.
Evan Press
Press has burst onto the scene with Barry Town United this season. Keeping a clean sheet on his first start in Barry’s Europa League fixture with serial European outfit Cliftonville was impressive.
In the second-best defence this season, the 19-year-old has shown leadership amongst a youthful squad at Jenner Park. Press’ development at professional clubs like Newport County have reflected in his maturity on the pitch.
Chris Hugh
A tough position to choose from, given the quality in the position throughout the whole of the league.
Hugh who been Jonah’s preferred choice in the last matches could be given the go ahead again.
Juggling his Wales futsal commitments with Barry, Hugh deserves to start once more but will he pushed by Callum Roberts who has impressed at the best defence statistically in the league.
Henry Jones
Once again, Jones has been a pivotal player for Bala this season, given his goals and assists return.
Jones has scored five times in 11 appearances and is in the top five for assists in the Cymru Premier.
Experience of playing against the opposition, Jones is one of the men who the opponents will be aware of, but his talents continue to impress the Welsh public.
He proved a handful for the England defence but Wales can’t afford to have a luxury player so Jones will have to improve on his all-round game should Wales be chasing the game.
Clayton Green
When announced in the squad, not many experienced Green to start for Wales.
He did and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Since then he’s become an unsung hero for his club side. Barry’s midfield is glittered with talent but the absence of Green proved the most costly in their 4-1 defeat to Caernarfon.
Green is the midfield general who can make the much-needed tackles.
Aeron Edwards
Deservedly given the captaincy this year, Edwards is a true product of the Cymru Premier.
Formerly of Buckley Town and Carries, Edwards has done it all with The New Saints.
He knows what it means to represent the league and having Edwards there as Jonah’s trusted midfield general will give Wales some solidity in the middle.
James Davies
Five goals in 12 appearances for a struggling Druids side is the reasoning for my decision in including the 26-year-old.
Chris Venables
Chris Venables is like fine wine. He’s getting better with age.
Currently leading the Cymru Premier charts at 34-years-old, Wales fans will be hoping that Venables’ purple patch continues up to March.
Venables like Edwards has represented the league tremendously and is one of those players that Jonah will look to for some much-needed experience.
Hopefully playing just behind McLaggon will still encourage Venables to attack.
Kayne McLaggon
Behind Venables, McLaggon has continued his form into the next season.
At times McLaggon has had to play a number of different attacking roles for his club side Barry but for Wales he should only be expected to be the one striker leading the line for the Red Dragons.
Substitutes:
Alex Lang
Chosen over Aberystwyth Town’s Connor Roberts who is unlucky to miss out, given his performances for the Green and Blacks.
Lang is chosen for his development between the sticks, in the absence of Will Fuller. Each time Fuller has been sidelined, Lang has stepped up to the plate for Met.
Joel Edwards
Included in the squad the last time but ruled out due to injury, Edwards deserves another chance at international football.
Edwards has experience of playing in the English non-league scene, so he’ll be fully aware of how to combat himself against English forwards.
The former Hereford captain can play across the back line and his versatility could prove helpful should Jonah need to call to the bench.
Emlyn Lewis
Similar to Cooper, Lewis is tall in stature and is a commanding figure.
Having missed out due to injury in March 2018, Lewis did well the year later and deserves to be in the squad once more.
Leo Smith
Now a permanent signing in the league, Leo Smith will be eligible to play for Wales C.
Following a successful loan spell with Caernarfon after catching their eye at lowly Llandudno, Smith moved from Wrexham to join Sean Eardley’s revolution at The Oval.
Smith is unfortunate to be on the bench but could prove a handful if introduced.
Danny Brookwell
Included in the squad the last time, Brookwell had a cameo appearance at the Peninsula Stadium.
He’s a traditional winger that likes to run at the opposition full-backs.
If he can get more goals in his locker then the world is his oyster.
Eliot Evans
Jonah is a big fan of Eliot Evans and the Met forward who has been described as the Cymru Premier’s ‘Bergkamp’ has started the last two fixtures.
This season though, Evans hasn’t even been a guaranteed starter for the Met, having been a substitute a few times. He’s still however got three goals.
Evans can play a number of roles but in the absence of Roscrow, the former Monmouth man needs to add more goals to his tally this season.
He’s your traditional attacker who likes to get at the full-backs. Having a Cofi in the squad would improve the morale of the home faithful as they’d cheer on one of their own.
Callum Roberts
Roberts will be pushing hard for a starting berth with Barry’s Chris Hugh.
Left-back is one of the best covered positions in the league for Welsh talent. After performances for new side Connah’s Quay, Roberts just edges out Kane Owen and Nathan Craig in the squad.
Darren Thomas
The Cofi Messi wasn’t included in the last squad but since then he’s put on a number of man-of-the-match displays in front of Wales C boss Mark Jones.
Jamie Breese
Netting the winner against The New Saints highlights Breese’s ability to score against mainly players of a professional outfit.
Previously the top scorer of Caernarfon in 2017, if Breese can improve on his goals return at a higher level then he should deserve a chance at pulling on the red of Wales.
Liam Thomas
He may not have got into the scoresheet but Thomas put in a decent shift for Wales when brought on.
The Old Gold forward was made to pressure on the England defenders, something he’s not used to. His game is poaching in the box and putting away every chance presented to him.
He had a terrific season last year for Carmarthen but you’d hope his individual form won’t be affected by his club side’s current plight.
Carmarthen teammate Luke Bowen is unfortunate to miss out.
