Gareth Bale had a mixed reception from home supporters in Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad.
Bale was booed during his warm-up before receiving jeers as he was introduced in the 67th minute for Rodrygo.
One supporter held up a banner saying “Rodrygo-Vini-Lucas-Bale, in that order,” in a mock-up attempt of the Welsh flag which was held-up by the Welsh squad on Tuesday.
The Welsh flag was inspired by Predrag Mijatovic’s quote of: ”The first thing he thinks about is Wales, then golf and after that, Real Madrid.”
A selection of Madrid’s fans clapped Bale for his input into the game.
The 30-year-old was making his first appearance for Madrid since October 5.
Bale captained Wales twice in their 2-0 victories over Azerbaijan and Hungary.
Real Madrid won the game 3-1 with Luka Modrić scoring in the 74th minute after Bale’s introduction. The Welshman was involved in the build-up for the goal as his cross to Karim Benzema was finished by Modrić.
The Madrid club moved up to second in La Liga after the victory.
