Colwyn Bay: Downey and Parry join Seagulls

Colwyn Bay have announced the additions of Callum Parry and Sam Downey.

Downey joins from Cymru North rivals Llandudno whilst Parry moves from the Llanrwst United.

Midfielder Downey brings experience to the Seagulls having played for Corby Town and North Ferriby United in the Conference North.

Manager Craig Hogg said to Colwyn Bay’s official website: “We are very pleased to bring Sam to the football club.

“Sam is originally from Lincoln, but now lives in Dwygyfylchi and is a player who has impressed us a great deal with his performances for Llandudno this season.

“I would like to thank the officials at Llandudno FC for making this transfer as smooth as it has been.

“Sam is a player with a real desire and hunger to kick on with his football and he will bring a combative and energetic presence tom our central midfield, along with some really good quality on the ball.

“He is someone who we feel will be a very strong addition to the group of players we have and we all look forward to working with him and seeing him in action for the Bay.”

Joining Downey at Llanelian Road is forward Callum Parry who moves up a division.

Parry attracted interest from a number of Cymru North clubs according to North Wales Pioneer.

However, it is Colwyn Bay who have won his signature of the Welsh Alliance Division One top scorer charts.

“We sincerely thank Llanrwst FC for allowing this transfer to be completed so quickly,” said manager Craig Hogg to ColwynBayFC.co.uk.

“Callum is a local lad who has performed very well at Tier 3 level this season.

“There has been a lot of interest in the player during this window and we are very happy he has decided to join us.

“Callum has a strong and very honest work ethic, with a real hunger to do well in the game.

“That has impressed us most, but we also see a player with good quality and he is another local lad we feel we can work with to help develop and improve further.

“We welcome Callum to the Bay and look forward to seeing him in action for us.”

The Llanrwst forward has scored 24 times this season.

The pair could make their debut against Llanrhaeadr this weekend.
