Connah’s Quay have signed goalkeeper Oliver Byrne subject to international clearance.

Byrne, 22, is a former goalkeeper at Manchester United and was a U18 teammate of Alex Tuanzebe, Marcus Rashford and Tim Fosu-Mensah.

The goalkeeper who also played for Cardiff City and Stevenage joins as cover for Lewis Brass.

Brass was absent in the Nomads 4-0 win over Airbus UK Broughton on December 30, with Eric Merner deputising.

Before joining the Nomads, Byrne played 10 times this season for English non-league side Atherton Collieries.

“I’m delighted to have signed for The Nomads – I’ve been training with the club since November and have enjoyed every session,” said Byrne to the-nomads.co.uk

“I am looking forward to being involved in match days and working under Andy and his staff.

“I had other offers on the table, but the professionalism and hunger of the club is what swung my decision.

“I’m really looking forward to the second half of the season and helping The Nomads to more silverware.”

Byrne could make his debut at Deeside Stadium against Barry Town United on January 11.
