Barry Town United 7-1 Carmarthen Town: Seventh heaven for Barry as they crush Old Gold

Barry Town United display great performance as they comfortably beat Carmarthen Town 7-1 at Jenner Park. 

Six different scorers were on target for Barry Town, with Kayne McLaggon scoring a brace and other goals coming from Momodou Touray, Luke Cooper, Jack Compton, Clayton Green and Evan Press. 

Callum Saunders scored a solitary consolation goal for a battered Carmarthen. 

Barry Town were easily the better side for the whole match, especially in the first half of the game as they managed to score five goals to put the game to bed within the first half.


Carmarthen had a great chance cleared off the line in which Barry countered with prominent pace and finished off the counter attack with a good finish from Kayne Mclaggon.

The hosts doubled their lead after a break down the right from Momodou Touray who put a wonderful ball into McLaggon who finshed it first time with a clever scissor kick.

Straight from kick off Touray was able to pick the ball up after poor passing at the back from the away side he was able to slot the ball into bottom corner for the third goal of the game.

McLaggon had a great chance to score his hat-trick in the first 20 minutes, after a clearance from the Carmarthen defence fell to his feet but it was easy for the keeper to claim.

Jack Compton came close for Barry from a long-range free-kick that just went wide of the post.

Carmarthen managed to pull one back from a great free kick on the edge of the box from Callum Saunders.

Barry Town reacted swiftly after a controversial goal as the Carmarthen’ keeper got a shove and dropped the ball into captain Luke Cooper’s feet who tapped the ball into an empty net. in

Another free kick was scored in the game this time for Barry Town from a wonderful strike from Jack Compton on the left hand side leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

Just before half time in an action packed half, Mclaggon was again denied of a hat trick as a ball from the left was scored by McLaggon but it was judged offside.

Straight after half time, Carmarthen started the faster of the two sides with Noah Daley trying to reduce their arrears.

Daley made a quality run down the left with the ball at his feet and was able to get a shot off but Barry Town goalkeeper Michael Lewis made a good save to deny the forward.

Barry added another though to increase their enjoyment as they continued in their stride.

After a goalmouth scramble, Touray headed the ball across goal to Green who finished it with an easy tap in to score the sixth goal.

Carmarthen had a chance to pull one back as Daley who seemed to be Carmarthen’s only bright spark set up Gregory Walters whose shot went straight at the keeper.

Another great chance for Mclaggon as Touray put a great ball into the box for McLaggon to head in but he failed score as he hit the post.

Just before the end of the match, Touray had a great shot from the edge of the box which hit the crossbar and rebounded into the feet of Press who had an easy tap in to score the seventh goal for Barry Town.
