David Moyes has called for the League Cup to be replaced with the British Cup.

The West Ham manager wants a revamp and he thinks Scottish teams should be involved.

“My opinion on it is I’ve always thought we should have included Scotland” David Moyes said to Sky Sports.

This comes in the wake of UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin’s comments about scrapping the League Cup all together.

Speaking to The Times, Ceferin said, “I think that everybody knows that it would be better for everyone if that were not played any more.”

The tournament has existed since 1960 and currently, only teams from England and Wales can play in it.

Swansea City are the only Welsh club to lift the English League Cup, after beating Bradford City in a 5-0 thumping in 2013, a year after Cardiff City lost on penalties to Liverpool.

Moyes is keen for a revamp and is open to the idea of teams from other countries taking part.

“It’s in need of some way of being revamped. Call it the British Cup. A couple of teams from Northern Ireland, maybe two of the Welsh League clubs. That could give us something different,” the former Man United boss said.

Scotland already have the Scottish Challenge Cup, which invites teams from outside of Scotland to compete.

Clubs from the non-league scene of England, Wales, and both the Northern and Republic of Ireland all take part in the competition.

Last years final was contested between Ross County and Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Ross County won 3-1 and secured their third Scottish Challenge Cup.
