The Cymru Premier season has seen some shock results and heavy scorelines, along with some twists and turns in both the title race and relegation dogfight.
We take a look at the key results of each club in Wales’ top flight.
Connah’s Quay Nomads
Bala Town 0-1 Connah’s Quay Nomads
After being held to a draw by Cardiff Met University, Caernarfon Town and Carmarthen Town, the Nomads’ first win of the season was a vital one at Maes Tegid. Michael Wilde’s second half goal was enough for Andy Morrison’s side to take all three points and continue their unbeaten start to the season, a run that eventually ended in December.
Barry Town 0-4 Connah’s Quay Nomads
The Nomads’ demolition of Barry Town at Jenner Park was a real statement of intent, as a double from both Jamie Insall and Michael Wilde capped an impressive performance from the current Cymru Premier leaders.
Connah’s Quay Nomads 1-0 The New Saints
With the pressure building in the title race, Andy Morrison’s side’s victory over rivals The New Saints, courtesy of Craig Curran’s goal, was a crucial moment in the Nomads’ season, especially as TNS had beaten them in the final fixture of Phase One, just a month prior.
The New Saints
Aberystwyth Town 1-10 The New Saints
Having lost to Bala Town on Matchday Two, The New Saints bounced back emphatically, with Greg Draper neting a brace and Billy Whitehouse a hatrick, as TNS hit double figures.
Airbus UK Broughton 0-12 The New Saints
For the second time of the season, The New Saints ran riot, as Adrian Cieslewicz scored four on TNS’ way to bagging twelve, the biggest league win in the club’s history.
The New Saints 2-1 Connah’s Quay Nomads
At the time, The New Saints’ victory over title rivals Connah’s Quay Nomads felt like a crucial moment in the Cymru Premier title race, with Simon Spender scoring the winner. However, despite The New Saints’ impressive result, Connah’s Quay Nomads got their revenge just a month later.
Bala Town
Bala Town 3-1 The New Saints
Not only was Bala Town’s scalp of The New Saints on Matchday Two a statement for the Lakesiders, but also for current top scorer Chris Venables, who scored twice to topple the Saints.
Aberystwyth Town 0-5 Bala Town
The Lakesiders’ strength this season has certainly been their attacking prowess, as they proved in the first week of November, scoring nine goals in two games, including a 5-0 demolition of Aberystwyth Town at Park Avenue.
Caernarfon Town 1-2 Bala Town
Just two teams have won at The Oval this season. The home of Caernarfon Town is known for a raucous atmosphere, but the Lakesiders have come away from the Cofis’ ground with three points on two occasions this season, with Chris Venables scoring twice in both victories.
Barry Town United
The New Saints 0-1 Barry Town
The Linnets’ triumph at The New Saint’ Park Hall back in September was some achievement, as impressive prospect Evan Press netted the winner for Gavin Chesterfield’s side.
Aberystwyth Town 0-1 Barry Town
After a good start to the season, Barry Town had a poor run of form in November and December, as they lost 5 out of 6 Cymru Premier games. An away victory at Park Avenue, sealed by striker Kayne McLaggon, turned around the Linnets’ form, as they have lost just twice since.
Barry Town 7-1 Carmarthen Town
Proving that Barry Town had returned to form, the Linnets put seven past lowly Carmarthen Town in January, with Kayne McLaggon netting a brace.
Caernarfon Town
Caernarfon Town 1-0 The New Saints
The Cofis’ result of the Cymru Premier season came in October, as Jamie Breese’s second half goal sealed a famous victory over The New Saints at The Oval.
Caernarfon Town 4-1 Barry Town
Inspired by the ‘Cofi Messi’ Darren Thomas, Caernarfon Town put four past Barry Town during Gavin Chesterfield’s men’s poor run of form in November.
Caernarfon Town 5-0 Airbus UK Broughton
The Cofis have been impressive at The Oval this season, losing to just two Cymru Premier sides at their home ground. Darren Thomas again starred for Caernarfon Town in December, as he bagged a brace against a lowly Airbus UK Broughton side.
Newtown
Barry Town 0-1 Newtown
During Newtown’s impressive run of form in November and December, the Robins beat Barry Town at Jenner Park twice, knocking the Linnets out of the Welsh Cup and defeating them in the league, courtesy of Ian Sheridan’s second half winner.
Aberystwyth Town 1-2 Newtown
A key moment in Newtown’s season was a last-minute winner from striker George Harry at Aberystwyth’s Park Avenue. The victory meant that a draw on the final day of Phase One was enough for a Championship Conference place, which the Robins secured with a stalemate against Airbus UK Broughton.
The New Saints 1-2 Newtown
In Phase Two, Newtown looked to prove their ability to compete with the Cymru Premier’s elite, which they certainly showed at Park Hall in February, as goals from Alex Fletcher and Lifumpa Mwandwe secured a famous victory against The New Saints.
Cardiff Met University
Bala Town 1-2 Cardiff Met University
The Archers showed a great amount of character at Maes Tegid in September, as they found themselves behind to a Henry Jones effort. Inspired by star man Eliot Evans, Met turned the game on its head, as Evans slotted home a penalty, and substitute Dion Phillips bagged the winner.
The New Saints 1-2 Cardiff Met University
Similarly to Newtown’s victory over The New Saints at Park Hall, Met secured an unlikely triumph over last season’s Cymru Premier title winners in December. Despite Ryan Brobbel cancelling out Joel Edwards’ opener, Will Evans, who has impressed for Met this season, netted the winner for the Archers.
Cardiff Met University 1-0 Bala Town
Not only did Cardiff Met defeat Bala Town at Maes Tegid this season, but the Archers also claimed the scalp of the Lakesiders at Cyncoed Campus in January, with Will Evans again on the scoresheet.
Cefn Druids
Cefn Druids 1-0 Barry Town
During Barry Town’s poor run of form in November, Cefn Druids overcame the Linnets at The Rock, as winger Charley Edge scored early in the game. The victory over Barry Town was the Druids’ fourth consecutive win in the Cymru Premier.
Cefn Druids 2-0 Connah’s Quay Nomads
Connah’s Quay Nomads have been beaten in the Cymru Premier just twice all season, but the Druids achieved the feat in December. Striker Cody Ruberto, who has impressed in Wales’ top flight this season, scored the opener, while Josef Faux secured the win late on.
Bala Town 1-2 Cefn Druids
In the final game of Phase One, the Druids needed a victory over Bala Town at Maes Tegid to have any chance of claiming a Championship Conference place and Cefn Druids duly delivered with a brace from Jamie Reed. Despite the Druids’ impressive result, Newtown’s stalemate with Airbus UK Broughton denied Cefn Druids of a top-six place.
Aberystwyth Town
Cefn Druids 1-2 Aberystwyth Town
The Seasiders showed great character to bounce back from a 1-10 defeat at the hands of The New Saints when they travelled to The Rock to face Cefn Druids in August. A late goal from fans’ favourite Geoff Kellaway secured Aberystwyth Town’s first win of the season, as they put their heavy defeat to the Saints behind them.
Aberystwyth 1-1 Connah’s Quay Nomads
Matthew Jones’ late penalty earned the Seasiders an impressive point against Connah’s Quay Nomads back in October and proved that Aberystwyth Town are capable of competing with the Cymru Premier’s elite over 90 minutes.
Caernarfon Town 0-3 Aberystwyth Town
After a positive January transfer window which saw the likes of Alhagi Touray Sisay join the Seasiders, Aberystwyth Town claimed a remarkable victory over the Cofis, with captain Marc Williams bagging a brace. The Seasiders are one of just two sides to have won at The Oval this season.
Penybont
Cefn Druids 2-3 Penybont
Penybont’s form has been much improved in 2020, after the club won just once in the current Cymru Premier season before the turn of the year. After draws against Carmarthen Town and Caernarfon Town at the start of January, Kane Owen’s late goal earned the Bont a much needed victory at The Rock.
Aberystwyth Town 0-1 Penybont
The signing of Lewis Harling has been an inspired one, as the midfielder has been influential for The Bont, scoring the winner with a header past Alex Pennock against Aberystwyth Town in a crucial victory in the relegation battle.
Penybont 2-0 Cardiff Met University
Harling continued his form for The Bont as Rhys Griffiths’ side earned their third victory of 2020 with a 2-0 win over Cardiff Met University. Before the suspension of the Cymru Premier, Penybont looked to be taking significant steps towards safety.
Carmarthen Town
Connah’s Quay Nomads 1-1 Carmarthen Town
The current Cymru Premier leaders have dropped points at the Deeside Stadium just three times this season. Carmarthen Town took a shock lead against the Nomads back in August, as Liam Thomas netted for the Old Gold, only for Callum Morris to equalise, but it was an impressive point earned for Carmarthen Town.
Cardiff Met University 0-3 Carmarthen Town
Despite failing to win in their opening thirteen games of the Cymru Premier season, the Old Gold claimed their first win in style, as goals from Luke Bowen, Declan Carroll and Elliot Scotcher earned Carmarthen Town three points at Cyncoed Campus.
Penybont 1-2 Carmarthen Town
The Old Gold began Phase Two in a positive manner, as they defeated relegation rivals Penybont, courtesy of Kalilo Djalo Embalo’s late winner. Carmarthen Town followed up a key result with a 1-0 win over Cefn Druids, as the Cymru Premier relegation fight intensified.
Airbus UK Broughton
Aberystwyth Town 1-2 Airbus UK Broughton
After losing their first four games of the season, Airbus UK Broughton earned their first victory of the campaign at Aberystwyth Town’s Park Avenue. Goals from defender Kristian Platt and talisman Andy Owens had the Wingmakers cruising, but the visitors had to hold on for their three points after Luke Boundford’s goal.
Airbus UK Broughton 2-0 Newtown
Andy Owens was again influential for the Wingmakers, scoring a brace as Airbus UK Broughton claimed a crucial victory over Newtown. The victory came just a week after conceding six to The New Saints, showing the side’s resilience and bounce-back ability.
Carmarthen Town 1-3 Airbus UK Broughton
Airbus UK Broughton’s latest result, an away victory over relegation rivals Carmarthen Town was a crucial result in the relegation battle, as the Old Gold started 2020 in improved form, meaning that the Wingmakers could have fallen adrift had it not been for Niall Watson’s brace.
