There have been signings in the Cymru Premier this season that have given sides at both ends of the table a real boost.
All twelve teams have had to manoeuvre in the transfer market trying to find a player which would suit them .
Signings don’t always work for whatever reasons but sometimes they can come off.
Some have added experience and others bringing goals. We take a look at each club’s signing of the season.
Connah’s Quay Nomads: Kris Owens
Andy Morrison added Kris Owens to his squad in August 2019 and the left-back has since been a key component for the Nomads this season.
After twelve appearances for a Liverpool U18’s side including a certain Trent Alexander-Arnold, Owens had a brief four month spell at Bristol Rovers.
Owens has been a regular feature for the Cymru Premier leaders this season and was instrumental in the club’s Nathaniel MG Cup triumph, recording a fantastic assist for Michael Wilde in the final win over STM Sports.
The New Saints: Keston Davies
Having had experience at Swansea City academy, along with appearances in the Football League during loan spells at Yeovil Town and Notts County, the signing of Keston Davies in July 2019 was a positive one for The New Saints.
Davies also gained experience at international level before signing for Scott Ruscoe’s men, having featured for Wales’ U17’s, U19’s and U21’s.
Regularly operating at the heart of The New Saints’ defence this season, Keston Davies looks a good piece of business on the Saints’ part.
Bala Town: Louis Robles
The addition of Louis Robles to Colin Caton’s squad in July 2019 has proven to be a very shrewd move for the Lakesiders.
Formerly of Wigan Athletic and Grimsby Town, the forward has netted eleven goals in the Cymru Premier this season, averaging a goal every 183 minutes.
Robles is part of a strong Lakesiders’ attack, along with playmaker Henry Jones and Cymru Premier top scorer, Chris Venables.
Barry Town: Luke Cummings
Luke Cummings joined Barry Town in May 2019 after six seasons at Carmarthen Town.
The right-back has been a dependable feature in the Linnets’ defence this season, keeping nine clean sheets in the Cymru Premier, along with providing crosses of real quality for the likes of Kayne McLaggon.
Cummings’ form earned him a call-up to Mark Jones’ Wales C squad in March, proving that the Linnets’ defender has impressed this season.
Caernarfon Town: Leo Smith
After making his loan move from Wrexham permanent in July 2019, Leo Smith has excelled in the Cymru Premier.
Forming a strong creative partnership with the ‘Cofi Messi’ Darren Thomas, Smith has found regular first-team football in Wales’ top flight, having made 19 appearances this season.
Like Cummings, Smith was also called up to the Wales C squad in March, just eight months after joining the Cofis.
Newtown: Sean McAllister
While the loan signing of Shrewsbury Town’s Lifumpa Mwandwe has been an inspired one from the Robins, the addition of Sean McAllister has been a real coup for Newtown.
Having made over a hundred Football League appearances for the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Shrewsbury Town and Scunthorpe United, McAllister has added experience and leadership to Chris Hughes’ midfield.
With tireless and industrious performances for Newtown this season, the signing of Sean McAllister has certainly had a positive effect on the Robins’ side.
Cardiff Met University: Jordan Lam
After an impressive first stint at Cardiff Met, Jordan Lam earned himself a move to Hereford, but returned to the Archers in June 2019.
The attacker has been a part of a strong Met attack this season, operating alongside the Archers’ star performers, Eliot Evans and Will Evans.
Having netted four times for Met this season, the return of Jordan Lam has been a welcomed one at Cyncoed Campus.
Cefn Druids: Cody Ruberto
Cody Ruberto has been a positive addition to Cefn Druids’ side this season, scoring seven times in the Cymru Premier.
The striker has been an asset to manager Stuart Gelling, performing both in the starting eleven and as an impact substitute this season.
With fellow striker James Davies on nine goals for the season, both Druids’ forwards looked set to reach double figures before the league’s suspension.
Aberystwyth Town: Alhagi Touray Sisay
Spanish striker Alhagi Touray Sisay joined Aberystwyth Town in January and has since been a revelation for the Seasiders.
In Phase One, a lack of goals contributed to Matthew Bishop’s men missing out on a Championship Conference place, but the signing of Touray Sisay has been a real boost.
The striker scored a hat-trick in Aberystwyth Town’s 5-3 victory over Airbus UK Broughton at Park Avenue, as the Seasiders looked much more dangerous going forward with Touray Sisay in the side.
Penybont: Lewis Harling
Another January signing, Lewis Harling has been in excellent form for Penybont since his move from relegation rivals Carmarthen Town.
The midfielder headed the winner at Park Avenue as Penybont secured a victory over Aberystwyth Town, along with netting the second in the Bont’s 2-0 win over Cardiff Met.
Before the suspension of the league, Penybont looked to be taking significant steps towards safety from relegation, as Harling’s arrival certainly gave Rhys Griffiths’ side a boost.
Carmarthen Town: Elliot Scotcher
Despite a difficult season in the Cymru Premier for Carmarthen Town, Elliot Scotcher has had a say in the points that the Old Gold have picked up, along with top scorer Luke Bowen.
After spells at Cardiff Met, Aberystwyth Town, Barry Town and Haverfordwest, Scotcher joined Kristian O’Leary’s side.
In Carmarthen Town’s most impressive result of the season, a 3-0 win at Cardiff Met’s Cyncoed Campus, Scotcher netted the third, as the Old Gold claimed their first win of the season.
Airbus UK Broughton: Andy Owens
A well-known name in the Cymru Premier after a positive spell at Connah’s Quay Nomads, Owens joined Cymru North winners Airbus UK Broughton last summer.
The striker has netted eight times for the Wingmakers this season, averaging a goal every 256 minutes.
Andy Owens’ goals have played a huge part in Airbus UK Broughton’s survival hopes.
