As football leagues in Wales remain suspended, there is a great deal of debate as to whether the season should be resumed at a later date or brought to a complete halt.
In the case that the 2019-2020 season is not resumed, a number of methods are being discussed as to how league tables will be finalised.
One of the possible outcomes is using a points per game method, which would consider the results all teams have earned throughout the season to form a final league table.
Based on all Cymru North results during the 2019-2020 season, here is how the final table would look:
Team Points Per Game
- Prestatyn Town – 2.62
- Flint Town 2.17
- Guilsfield 2.09
- Colwyn Bay 2
- Bangor City 1.74
- Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant 1.57
- Conwy Borough 1.5
- Penrhyncoch 1.44
- Rhyl 1.4
- Llandudno 1.22
- Gresford Athletic 1.21
- Buckley Town 1.14
- Ruthin Town 1.1
- Llangefni Town. 0.85
- Porthmadog 0.75
- Corwen 0.61
- Llanfair United 0.39
Prestatyn Town would remain at the top of the table, having recorded an impressive 68 points in 26 games.
Flint Town remain in second position, as they trail the Seasiders by 16 points in the current table.
As currently fourth-placed Guilsfield have a backlog of fixtures, with three games in hand on Colwyn Bay, the Guils would take third position in the PPG table.
That would see Colwyn Bay drop to fourth, ahead of Bangor City and Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant in fifth and sixth respectively.
Little changes to the Cymru North mid-table sides, as Conwy Borough and Penrhyncoch remain in the same position.
However, a factor which could have a paramount effect on the final Cymru North table is the liquidation of Rhyl after 141 years, meaning that any results recorded against the Lilywhites this season are likely to be voided.
Rhyl have been included for the time being in the event of any last-minute decisions on going back on their decision to liquidate.
If the points per game method is used, Llandudno would overtake Gresford Athletic, while Buckley Town rise above Ruthin Town.
As for the foot of the table, the bottom four sides in the Cymru North would remain in their current positions.
Therefore, the points per game method would provide finality to the season and is a realistic possibility, but Rhyl’s impending liquidation could also have a say in the final standings.
