Phoenix club set to emerge from the ashes of Rhyl

Supporters of Rhyl have put the wheels in the motion of beginning a phoenix club.

A week removed from the Lilywhites announcing their plans to wind-up, a group has come together to form a new club.

They hope to set up a team for the 2020/2021 season and have even touted plans to play at Belle Vue.

Adam Roche and Tom Jamieson will work alongside the Rhyl Fans Association, with Jamieson taking the role of interim chairman.

“This is fantastic news we have had very open and positive meetings with Will (Kearsley) and the RFA team and it is clear that we can work together in a true spirit of collaboration to prepare ourselves for the start of a new era,” said Jamieson.

“It will be challenging but we aim to bring all those with Rhyl’s interests at heart together in this endeavour.

“We should look back at our achievements and forward at what is possible if we all work closely together in unison and trust in each other.

“After recent events and in a time of national crisis and uncertainty this announcement offers real hope to our local Rhyl community.”

Vale of Clwyd MP James Davies recently came out in public support of a new club and offered his services in assisting with a phoenix side.
