The best goals of the 2019/20 Cymru Premier season

From long-range efforts to free-kicks, the Cymru Premier has had a wealth of impressive goals this season, proving that the league is ever-growing in quality.

We take a look back at the best goals from each month of Wales’ top flight season.

August

Jonathan Hood (Barry Town) v Penybont

The Linnets secured three points on the opening day of the season at Penybont, as Jonathan Hood struck a fantastic half-volley from the edge of the box past Rhys Wilson.

Curtis Strong (Airbus UK Broughton) v Bala Town

The Wingmakers played a corner short to left-back Curtis Strong, who cut inside and curled an effort into the top corner to give Airbus the lead, only for Chris Venables to strike twice for the Lakesiders.

Kayne McLaggon (Barry Town) v Aberystwyth Town

Barry Town striker Kayne McLaggon showed his class in the Linnets’ 3-1 victory over Aberystwyth Town, turning past Pedro Vaz and firing an effort from range into the top corner.

September

Luke Bowen (Carmarthen Town) v Cardiff Metropolitan

Old Gold striker Luke Bowen has been in fine form this season, and netted a brilliant chip over Alex Lang in Carmarthen Town’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff Met.

Ramirez Howarth (Cefn Druids) v Carmarthen Town

The second goal in a hat-trick against the Old Gold, Ramirez Howarth picked up the ball in his own half, before driving at Carmarthen’s defence and striking from distance.

Chris Hugh (Barry Town) v Cefn Druids

A solo-effort from Barry Town’s Chris Hugh, the left-back weaved his way into the Druids’ box and fired past Michael Jones in the Linnets’ only goal in a win over Cefn Druids.

October

Niall Flint (Newtown) v Cefn Druids

Another against Cefn Druids, this time for Newtown’s Niall Flint, who caught a half-volley sweetly from the edge of the box in the Robins’ 2-1 victory at The Rock.

Wes Baynes (Aberystwyth Town) v Penybont

The Seasiders’ right-back put Aberystwyth Town ahead at Penybont with a free-kick from the edge of the box, only for Kostya Georgievsky to equalise late on.

Darren Thomas (Caernarfon Town) v Carmarthen Town

The ‘Cofi Messi’s first goal on this list, the playmaker fired a powerful drive into the bottom corner in Caernarfon Town’s 2-0 win at home to Carmarthen.

November

Chris Venables (Bala Town) v Aberystwyth Town

Against his former club, the current top-scorer showed his quality, as he curled an effort past Connor Roberts from outside the area.

Eliot Evans (Cardiff Metropolitan) v Cefn Druids

The Archers’ talisman netted a late winner for Met against Cefn Druids, securing all three points with a curling effort into the top corner.

George Peers (Airbus UK Broughton) v Penybont

The young Wingmakers striker showed pace and finishing ability against The Bont in November, racing clear to fire an accurate effort past Rhys Wilson.

December

Darren Thomas (Caernarfon Town) v Airbus UK Broughton

Unsurprisingly featuring again on the list is Darren Thomas, whose exquisite finish with the outside of his right foot was one of five goals scored by the Cofis against Airbus in the December fixture.

Jamie Mullan (The New Saints) v Barry Town

The New Saints showed their quality in a 4-1 win over Barry Town in December, with Jamie Mullan scoring the pick of the bunch, with an effort from distance.

January

Jack Compton (Barry Town) v Carmarthen Town

A month of fantastic goals against Carmarthen Town, Jack Compton capped off a brilliant performance with a free-kick from range.

Alex Darlington (Airbus UK Broughton) v Carmarthen Town

The Wingmakers’ striker fired from distance to halve the deficit against Carmarthen Town. Airbus went on to secure a 2-2 draw, coming from two down.

Kayne McLaggon (Barry Town) v Carmarthen Town

Another in Barry Town’s 7-1 demolition of the Old Gold, Kayne McLaggon clinically buried Momodou Touray’s cross with a scissor kick past Tom Windsor.

February

Kristian Platt (Airbus UK Broughton) v Cefn Druids

Kristian Platt equalised for the Wingmakers against Cefn Druids with a fantastic free-kick, only for Jamie Reed to net a winner for the Druids.

Adrian Cieslewicz (The New Saints) v Newtown

The Polish winger equalised for The New Saints against Newtown with a drive from the edge of the box, firing past Dave Jones. On-loan Shrewsbury forward Lifumpa Mwandwe headed the Robins back in front to secure a famous win for Chris Hughes’ side.

Elliot Scotcher (Carmarthen Town) v Cefn Druids

A month of brilliant free-kicks, Carmarthen Town’s Elliot Scotcher curled an effort into the top corner in a crucial 1-0 victory over Cefn Druids.
