Manchester United are considering a swoop for Schalke and Wales winger Rabbi Matondo.

The Manchester Evening News report that the Red Devils have been scouting the Welsh youngster and believe he’s a cost-effective signing, should they miss out on Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

The 19-year-old has been at Schalke since 2019 after moving to Germany from United’s city rivals Manchester City in an £11m move, which runs for four-and-a-half-years.

United fans could cast an eye on their potential new signing as the Schalke play rivals Borussia Dortmund as German football begins again after the coronavirus pandemic.

Matondo is not the only reported target for the Premier League side. United have also been linked with a move for Swansea City’s Joe Rodon in recent weeks.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s men signed Daniel James from Swansea City last summer for £15m and have bought a number of young British talents having signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka and James.
