Ynyshir Albions have proposed a ground share with local rivals AFC Porth.
The Buns are considering a move across the town of Porth whilst they seek support in improving their Ynyshir Oval home.
Ynyshir’s move to Dinas Park is subject to FAW approval with decisions to be made on Tier Three licences after the June 16 deadline has passed.
A statement provided to Y Clwb Pêl-Droed by Ynyshir said: “The decision was taken to look at ground-sharing options after it become clear following our FAW Tier Three inspection in January that we had neither the funds or the time to implement the mandatory requirements we fell short on.”
The Rhondda club have had three promotions in four years after winning the South Wales Alliance League title last year.
Following the curtailment of the season, after the campaign was ravaged by the coronavirus, Ynyshir were placed in fourth on a points-per-game ratio.
Cei Mason, the treasurer for Ynyshir said: “In many ways, we have been victims of our own success with three promotions in four years.
“Tier Three football and the ground requirements were certainly not in our thoughts back in 2016 – the club was literally on the brink of folding.
“The last two years have been challenging to say the least, with our committee trying desperately to obtain funding to make the improvements but having no success with our efforts.”
The club does harbour ambitions to return to Ynyshir Oval and have been in dialogue with the local council about getting the ground to the required standard.
The club statement continued with: “We have however developed a strong working relationship with our local council, and we are optimistic that they will support us in making the necessary changes to our ground during the period in which we play our football at Dinas Park.
“We must stress that the ground sharing agreement with AFC Porth is subject to FAW approval. The FAW are scheduled to discuss Tier Three eligibility remotely after the latest extension expires on June 16th.
“Whilst we wait for confirmation from the FAW we would just like to take this opportunity to thank Huw Jones and RCTBC & Councillor Julie Edwards who have supported us to this stage.”
A response statement was issued by AFC Porth this evening: “Whilst we can confirm discussions between ourselves,Ynyshir and RCTCBC Council have indeed taken place and are ongoing, any Ground Sharing Agreement will be subject to our participation at Tier Three level for next season.
“We are flattered Ynyshir want to share our facilities for next season 2020/21.
“Once and only after our participation at Tier Three is confirmed and not just the award of the licence we will move forward.”
