Former Wales international Gareth Taylor has been appointed as manager of Manchester City Women.
Taylor, who earned 15 caps for Wales from 1995 to 2004, has moved from U18s to the Women’s side at Manchester City.
He enjoyed a 20-year playing career, playing almost 650 times for clubs such as Manchester City, Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest and Wrexham.
The 47-year-old replaces Nick Cushing, who left the club in February to become assistant manager to Ronny Deila at New York City.
Former Cardiff City midfielder Alan Mahon, who took interim charge, will remain on the coaching staff as Taylor’s assistant.
After being appointed, Taylor said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have joined Manchester City Women and I’m extremely excited about the challenge ahead with a very talented group of players and staff who have enjoyed a lot of success in recent years.
“I’m really honoured to have been appointed to this role and I can’t wait to get started with our preparations for another thrilling and competitive Barclays FA WSL season in 2020/21.”
The Citizens are waiting on the outcome of the 2019/20 season after the Women’s Super League was curtailed.
Manchester City were top of the division before the coronavirus caused the season to end prematurely.
